An exciting opportunity to join Tullie’s commercial and operations team.

Tullie is a major independent regional museum welcoming over 200,000 visitors every year. We are the lead organisation of the Cumbria Museum Consortium, an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. Our Manifesto places collections at the heart of everything we do: we use them to inspire co-creation and active participation, celebrate diversity and champion equality, and foster a sense of pride in the people of Carlisle and Cumbria for their unique local history.

As well as housing our significant collections and displaying objects and exhibitions, Tullie is also a space for community, corporate and family activity. Our events programme is a diverse and exciting offer – welcoming many different audiences. This role will play a key part in developing and delivering our commercial events programme alongside managing our room bookings for a range of meetings and conferences as well as celebrations and weddings. This role comes at an exciting time in Tullie’s history as we move forward with our capital development project, there will be scope for designing new programmes and attracting new audiences to strengthen our financial sustainability and community engagement.

Purpose of the Role

Ø  Lead the commercial and events team to ensure greater financial sustainability is achieved through event ticket sales, venue hire, admissions, and catering. Achieve commercial income, admission and engagement targets.

Ø  Take a lead in delivering our Audience Development Plan key initiatives such as Travel Trade and Corporate Memberships. Work with colleagues across the organisation to ensure that all commercial aspects of any project or event have been considered and explore all opportunities to deliver enhanced experiences to visitor’s whist generating additional income for the Trust.

Ø  Create, manage, and develop a programme of commercial events, in line with audience development plan and working closely with other departments to ensure cohesion in programming.

Ø  Manage commercial room hires, conferences and events, delivering exceptional levels of customer service to encourage repeat business and maximise income.
