Purpose of the Role

We are looking for a Sous Chef to help run Stove under the guidance of our Head Chef and a second Sous Chef.

To work as part of our busy kitchen team at the Stove and delight our customers with high-quality food by cooking amazing dishes under the guidance of the Head Chef and with the support of our Stove team.

Role Requirements

  • Produce high-quality food with consistent standards of service and product delivery, this covers all areas of the food operation from breakfast to dinner and everything in between.
  • Help in the administration and training of new employees, scheduling staff work hours, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Execute various tasks such as preparing menus, training new employees, and documenting inventories.
  • Manage the cost control and food maintenance and storage, stocking, and sanitary operations, highlighting risk to our Executive Chef promptly.
  • Responsible for proposing new menu options based on seasonal changes and customer needs.
  • Participate in the preparation and planning of meal arrangements as necessary. Ascertaining that all kitchen chores get carried out smoothly.
  • They also ensure that inventory is monitored and recorded correctly, and fresh supplies get ordered as needed.
  • Stocktaking and ordering supplies for the kitchen, looking ahead and ordering accordingly
  • To ensure that the hygiene standards are maintained at all times.
  • Adhere to and put into effect cleanliness regulations as well as safety standards, ensuring that their behaviour are of a leadership style.
  • Support the managing the kitchen personnel in the absence of the Executive Chef.
  • They are also in charge of assisting junior kitchen personnel with a range of activities such as line cooking, meal preparation, and dish plating.

Stove is very popular with our guests, lodge owners and people passing through after a walking adventure so the ability to deliver quality food in high volume and work under pressure is essential.
