This is an area of shortage currently and pay for housekeepers has significantly increased too.
If you’re interested in food, nutrition and think you could have a flair for cooking, it’s worth looking at apprenticeships with our local colleges. Businesses are looking for chefs at all levels and are happy to put people through their qualifications. Commis chefs can earn around £24-£25K per year, moving up to Head Chefs who can look to bring in £35-£45k.
There is a vast array of managerial positions on offer in Cumbria. Whether you’re looking to train and take your first steps into management, looking for a departmental, supervisory role or work your way up to general managerial level, the opportunities here are endless.
Outdoor roles play a huge part in maintaining and conserving the natural landscapes of Cumbria, additionally adding valuable experiences for visitors. You could be an outdoor activity industructor, mountain leader, ranger, grounds person, even a hot tub technician!
